We opened on 3rd Street in 2001 with a simple mission: serve real Indian flavors with generous portions and genuine hospitality.
What Chaat Actually Means
Chaat is the tangy, crunchy, spice-forward street food of Indian roadside stalls — Pani Puri, Chole Bhature, Gobi Manchurian. Our menu celebrates that tradition alongside North Indian classics like Butter Chicken and Biryani.
A SoMa Neighborhood Staple
Through tech booms and everything in between, we've stayed right here in SoMa — a go-to for Giants fans, office lunch crowds, and families celebrating milestones. The staff knows regulars by name.
One Kitchen Grew Into Many
That 3rd Street kitchen has grown into a small family: a fully plant-based Chaat Diner on Folsom, a quick-service Folsom Express, and an in-house Indian grocery. Same values, more ways to enjoy them.
